Came from a high kill shelter and super afraid of people. Baby steps ..... his name is Dobby. Laurie Patino My rescue. Came to me so scared, he would fear snap at leaves and then shake for hours under any piece of furniture. Three years later, and he's an almost normal dog. You wouldn't know he was severely abused. He just has some odd quirks, and still doesn't understand fetch, tug of war, or catch (unless it's a piece of cheese or dog treat). It gets better, OP! One baby step at a time! Ryan Sammis Amyy Rattss He's such a good boy! It's tough to make a rescue feel comfortable. I took me a year to find a good place for my doggo's bed. She still doesn't like anything to play with. Rashmi Tripathy My dog used to be a streetdog i Portugal. Now he lives out his days in serenity with us here in sweden:) Nabilah Nasir look at those ayes those ayes have seen the most evil shit and yet he is having trust, i would go john wick on the guy who made this dog sad. John Clark Oh So cute <3 My good boy was beaten as well in his old life. This is how he hugs us all the time like he is scared we leave him. Dogs are so grateful for their new life So happy to see all those good pups in the comments Demauri Brunson Just be more patient is the key. Give it everything that it wants and don't be angry at any time. I have a cat for 2 weeks now from the vet with one eye and it is scared and curious at the same time. To just leave it alone and take care of simple things like food and a nice place to sleep you will grab his attention more and more Gurwinder Kaur This is Murphy Mc Fly. Beaten and starved during his first 4 years. We saved him and keep him since almost 2 years ago. Now he is acting like a puppy every day, playing all the time. But still have lot of nightmares. It will need time. We love him more and more everyday. It's not our dog, he is our best friend. Sorry for my english. Grace Harris Trick, put some liverworst on your forehead when you are going to sleep. When you sleep they have more courage and when he goes that close and gets a treat(the liverworst) and afterwards you just still sleeping (or pretending) so he sees you are not to be scared of, then repeat it during the day, and be o so happy and joyfull to him when he licks ot from your forehead. It might sound a bit silly but dogs lick faces to show affection often, so by making him do that action for something else a.k.a. the treat his brain will still make the link to affection as well. Just for the heck of it bro , try it , and he will trust you much faster. Nothing to lose. James Henry Wilkey What breed? I think we have the same. Desirae Beck Same here... rescued 3 years ago.. now he is fat, spoiled and the coolest guy ever enjoying his life to the fullest! Renee Hodge Our dog is a rescued street dog too. Please always adopt, don't shop! George R. Landau This is the most beautiful comment section ever. Merlys Francis Crystal Howell This is mine. Adopted her 5 years ago. Could not have asked for a better friend, confidant, or partner in crime. She has a better life than some humans. But she deserves it. Deanne Robichaud his eyes said it all... so sad Ram Prasad Guggilapu Dog trainer here- try counter conditioning and desensitization if you aren’t already, and look for a veterinary behaviorist to help you out. Working dogs through fears is not at all intuitive for humans and you need to do the right techniques to actually make progress. The fear and abuse are not your dog’s personality traits so don’t accept them as such. You adopted a dog with bage- so help them unpack.
